Beirut pays Dubai prices for Zara. Madrid pays 39% less.
On 8 to 9 Oct 2026 we priced 443 identical Zara pieces (same product code, same colour) on Zara’s own websites for Lebanon, the UAE, Spain, Turkey and the US, all at full price, and converted with that day’s official rates. The median piece costs 63% more in Lebanon than in Spain; 100% of pieces are pricier here.
99 AED on a tag in Dubai is 2,700,000 LBP in Beirut; 85 AED is 2,000,000 LBP. For 410 of the 443 pieces sold in both, each Dubai price matched one Beirut price. Median difference: +0.3%.

We went looking for fake sales. We found 481 honest ones.
closet.ai keeps every price it reads. Between 22 Sep and 8 Oct 2026, 496 pieces went on sale at Zara, Bershka, Mango, Stradivarius, Pull&Bear, Women’secret, GS and Azadea in Lebanon. In 481 of them the “was” price was exactly what the piece cost the day before. We found no piece whose price was raised and then “discounted”. Zara: 93 of 93.
Only the sales that started while we were watching count; 17 days is a short window, and we’ll repeat it.

Are Zara’s sales in Lebanon real?
Between 22 Sep and 8 Oct 2026, while we watched, yes: all 93 Zara Lebanon sales that started used the price the piece really had the day before as the “was” price. Across 8 stores, 481 of 496 did.
Why is it more expensive?
We don’t know, and we don’t guess: this page measures prices, not reasons. Shipping, duties, rent and the local partner’s costs are all possible; only Zara can say.
How we did it
We drew 450 Zara Lebanon products at random (stratified by women, men, kids and category, seed 20261009) from closet.ai's daily catalogue, all at full price in Lebanon. For each we read the same product code and colour from Zara's public product pages in Lebanon, the UAE, Spain, Turkey and the US on the night of 8 to 9 Oct 2026 (UTC), one request at a time. A row counts only if the country sells that exact colour at full price. Zara Lebanon prices in Lebanese pounds; we converted at Banque du Liban's 89,500 LBP per dollar (Wise's market rate that night: 89,550), euros and lira at the European Central Bank's 8 Oct reference rates, dirhams at the 3.6725 peg. We re-read 20 items later: Lebanon, the UAE, Spain and the US were identical; Zara Turkey raised 279 of 437 prices (median +7.5%) during our run, so Turkey uses the newer prices. Shelf prices only: no shipping or duties. Medians over matched items.
